If a book, DVD or journal is on loan to another reader you may reserve it for yourself via Library Search.

To do this you will need your University IT account username and password, as you need to make sure that you are logged in.  Click on Staff & Students or Guest (if you are a Borrowing Visiting Reader) in the top right hand corner and input your details.

Click on the 'Get It' tab underneath the book title for more detailed information. Here you can see if the book you want is On Shelf, a Library Use Only Non-Loanable copy or out on Loan to another reader.

If all the Loanable copies of the book are out on loan then the Request Tab will show in the Request Options section.  Click the Request tab.

This will bring up a more detailed Request box. It is ok to leave all the fields blank and just click Request again.

When the requested item is returned to the Library you will be notified by email that it is available. The item will be kept on the hold shelf in the Express Zone on the ground floor of the Library for collection.

All reserved items will be held for 5 days.
