The Library Cafe serves food and drink and is located on the left hand side as you enter the Library, we please ask that food and drinks purchased at the Library Cafe not be consumed past the turnstiles.
Users are free to drink hot drinks, and purchase them from the vending machine based in the Digital Reading Room. This is located on the right hand side upon entering the Library. The room is open during the usual Library opening times. Please note that you will need to use your staff or student card to gain access.
No food or hot drinks are allowed to be consumed in any section of the Library past the turnstiles.
Bottled water is allowed everywhere. There are drinking water fountains on every floor for refills.
Library staff will speak to users about the consumption of food should they witness users doing so. We receive user feedback asking us to limit food consumption in the Library as users feel this is distracting and does not contribute to an effective study environment. Staff and peers appreciate cooperation with this rule.
There are alternative places on campus to purchase and consume food such as:
- Students Union
- Chi (Charles Wilson Building)
- Vegan Cafe (Rattray Building)
- Events Square
The Students Union is currently undergoing renovation and will include a food court, food stalls and seating areas. Further information can be found here. The renovation works are due for completion by the start of academic year 2018/19.
