University of Leicester staff and students do not accrue overdue fines for normal loan items. This applies to University of Leicester students and staff only, not external borrowers. Visit our Fines and Charges page for a breakdown of the fines items are subject to, and when.

In summary; overdue held or recalled items needed by other users will incur a fine of 50p per item per day to ensure prompt return. We still require Library items to be returned or renewed so you will not be able to borrow anymore until all overdue items are renewed or returned. Your account will still be blocked if you have fines totaling £10 or more.

High demand items such as locker keys and netbooks, as well as items from other Libraries will still incur overdue fines.

Prior to 27 January, all items were subject to the following overdue fines:

Normal loan

20p per day or part of a day

Books from other Libraries via Document Supply

20p per day or part of a day

Recalled, Held or use in the Library only

40p per day or part of a day

Locker key

£5 per day or part of a day

Netbook

£5 per 24 hour period or part of 24 hour period
