For guidance on citing a poem, or any other source you have used in your assignment, check your module handbook or ask your course tutor to find the exact style of referencing preferred by your department.
There are many different referencing styles in common use. The purpose of referencing is to acknowledge the work of others in your work and avoid plagiarism.
The University has published some useful information on referencing and bibliographies here.
You can use bibliographic software which is designed to store citations, insert citations into documents and create bibliographies. The University supports two software packages: EndNote and RefWorks.
