If your friend is visiting you for the weekend and you show your ID card at the front desk, we are unable to give them one-off access as we require everyone who uses the library to be a registered user. Access to the Library is for students and staff of the University who hold a University ID card, as well as registered external members.

If your friend is a student at another University they may be eligible to join as a member through the SCONUL Access scheme. College and sixth form students (aged 16-18) within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are eligible for college patron library membership.

Members of the public (aged 19 and over) are eligible to join as a member.

There is more information about joining the Library can be found here: https://le.ac.uk/library/using/joining

All external members and visitors are required to register as a Library user and to abide by the Library regulationsPlease note that we are unable to offer external users access to eResources other than the Library catalogue due to licensing restrictions.

We would advise contacting our Information Hub ahead of your visit, either by telephone 0116 252 2448 or email library@le.ac.uk if you have any queries.
