All books borrowed from the library are guaranteed for a minimum loan period of 7 days.  If items are not held or recalled for other users they may be kept for as long as needed and will be renewed automatically. If you borrow a book from the main library shelves, it will likely issue to your account for 8 weeks. If no one else wants it during this time, it will automatically renew. However, the due date can change whilst on loan to you, so please keep checking your emails.

When you borrow a book from the self-service machines on the ground floor, you will be asked if you want an email receipt. Selecting yes will ensure that you receive a notification with the current due date. We also send a monthly account statement to your university email address which will provide a list of all of the items that you currently have on loan, and the date that they are due back.

However, due dates can change, so to see the most up-to-date due date for your items, please log in to your library account online, via the Library Homepage

If you are a student or staff member of the University:

  • Scroll to the bottom of the homepage page and click on the ' Your Library Account' option at the end

  • If you are on campus/using a university VPN, you should be automatically logged in and redirected to your library account, where you can check the due dates of your items. If you need to log in, please use your university IT username and password.

If an external borrower of the library:

  • Follow the steps above to access your library account. Once you have selected 'Your Library Account', please select the visitor log in option and enter your library card number and password to login.

Your loans will be displayed, under My Account, with their current due dates, and you can select which loans to renew. Autorenewal is currently not available to Associate staff and External borrowers.
