The Library's building management system is designed to self-regulate the temperature in the building. This means that sensors detect the temperature and act accordingly, for example, by automatically opening or closing the windows, or adjusting the temperature of the heating.
Because of this system, unfortunately library staff are unable to override or control the temperature in the building. Certain parts of the building are subject to greater extremes in temperature so it might be worth moving to a different area of the building if you are finding it too hot or too cold in a particular area. For example, in the summer, the third floor yellow and blue zones by the windows can be particularly hot, but a lower floor may be cooler.
However, if you notice that a certain area of the library is regularly particular hot or cold, please let a member of library staff know and we will report this to Estates and Campus Services for further investigation. You can speak to a member of staff at the Information Hub desk or find our contacting details on the 'Finding Help' page of the library website.
