When you have found the book you want to borrow, you can use the self-issue machines on the ground floor of the library to issue it to your library account.

To borrow a loanable item and issue it to your library account, use the following steps:

  • Press the ‘borrow’ option on the screen of the terminal;
  • Hold your University student/ staff ID on the contactless pad (below the screen) for a few seconds, or scan your external member library card below the screen;
  • You will then be logged in to your library account;
  • Place the item you wish to borrow onto the table below the screen (you do not need to open the book);
  • The loaned item will then be displayed on the screen with the due date;
  • Place any additional items you wish to borrow onto the table and press ‘done’ when you are finished;
  • You will then have the option to request an email receipt which tells you the due dates of the books. Please check the due dates carefully as high demand items may have shortened loan dates.

Please note that all items are issued subject to recall so we advise checking your University emails and Library account regularly.

The self-service terminals can also be used to check your library account, renew and return your loans. You can also check the date your items are due back by logging in to your Library Account, where you can also renew books.
