Q. Are there fines for overdue items?

University of Leicester staff, students and external members of the Library do not accrue overdue fines for normal loan items. 

If the item is an Inter Library Loan, there are no fines for late return but the replacement costs for these books can be much higher than for our own, so we strongly encourage patrons to return them by the due date. If an extension is required, please follow the procedure outlined on our website. 

Laptops are the only items that currently incur overdue fines. The different rates of fines for these items can be found on the Fines and Charges page. Your account will be blocked if you have fines totalling £10 or more.

We still require Library items to be returned or renewed on or by their due date. If they are not, you will not be able to borrow any more items until all overdue items are renewed or returned, and you will be contacted to request the return of the items.
