Search the library
Library Search searches across a vast range of scholarly and research content which the University Library subscribes to online or holds in print.
Watch the Library Search introduction video which highlights some of the essential features which can help you find relevant content.
You may have access to a reading list through your Blackboard module site in the Reading and resources section.
Our guides for subject based resources direct you to specialised tools to help you identify research and scholarly content in your subject area.
Borrowing print items from the library
University students and staff may borrow up to 40 items, for a minimum of 7 days. If items are not held or recalled for other users they may be kept for as long as needed and will be renewed automatically.
Your University ID card is also your library card. This short video shows you how to borrow and return items.
I can’t find what I’m looking for
If the print copies are all out on loan you can place a request by logging into the Library Search and completing the form at the request options section of the item.
You may be able to use the Document Supply Service to access items available at other University libraries and the British Library where available.
Getting help
Use our online information hub, email library@le.ac.uk or go to the helpdesk in the library for help with library services or facilities.
The Centre for Academic Achievement can help with finding and evaluating sources, referencing, academic writing, dissertations, projects and assignments, study skills, preparing for exams and maths and statistics. You can book a study consultation with a member of staff and access online help resources at any time through Academic Skills Online.
Using the Library Building
The Library building is open 24/7 and you can find details of staffed hours on the library website.
There are a variety of study spaces available in the library including silent, quiet and collaborative spaces. You can also book Group Study Rooms online. PCs and smart printers are available throughout the building and you can borrow laptops to use.
