Eating cold food and drinking from lidded cups, bottles, and cans is allowed in the library, but not in all areas.

Cold food can be eaten in all areas of the Library except the PC Zones, Silent Study Areas, and Archives and Special Collections.

Hot food (or food previously served hot) is not allowed to be brought into any section of the Library past the turnstiles, and you will be asked to eat your hot food elsewhere, such as in the Library Café, before coming into the main Library.

Library staff will speak to users about the consumption of food and drink should they witness users with inappropriate items. We receive user feedback asking us to limit food consumption in the Library as our users feel this is distracting and does not contribute to an effective study environment. Staff and peers appreciate cooperation with this rule.

Rules around food in the Library can be found within the Library charter and regulations. Please help us to provide an affective study environment for all Library users by respecting these regulations.

There are alternative places on campus to purchase and consume food. The Library Café serves food and drink and is located on the left-hand side of the building as you enter the Library. Both hot and cold food can be eaten in this area. Vending Machines are available on the ground floor of the Library next to the lockers.

You can view all food outlets on campus at www.yourlsp.com.
