How can a student generate a Sharecode?
Students can generate a share code via the UKVI website at - https://www.gov.uk/view-prove-immigration-status. A step-by-step video with more information can be found at - How to prove your immigration status with an eVisa. We also have some leaflets and posters at the desk in the David Wilson Library with QR codes to this link if needed.
A student must have an eVisa and UKVI account to generate a share code. Newer students will create this when obtaining their visa for the UK, but for those that already have their visa they will need to retrospectively do this. Students can also contact the visa (SIAC) team for advice.
0116 229 7400. The phone lines are open from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm, excluding University closure days. For general inquiries, you can also email the visa team at visas@le.ac.uk
It's also important that you generate the correct share code. There are three types of Share Codes, one for proving right to work, one for right to rent and one for anything else (which includes study). Ensure that you choose the third, 'something else' option. This will generate a Share Code that is suitable for the visa team (SIAC).
How can Students provide their Share Codes to the visa team (SIAC)?
The best way for students to share their Share Codes with SIAC is to fill in this online form. These are processed regularly and the form can be filled in before students are even on campus or in the UK.
Share Codes can also be sent via e-mail to visas@le.ac.uk, but as their inbox is very busy the recommended way is to use the form above.
Once SIAC have process the share code they will email the student to confirm this, and ask them to come to complete their visa checkpoint.
