If you complete your studies earlier than expected, as part of our duties as your Student sponsor, we must notify UKVI you are not currently studying and withdraw your sponsorship. UKVI will normally then curtail your visa and write to you with a new date when your UK permission (visa) will expire. If you were studying at degree level or above, you will normally still receive your 4 month wrap-up period and this will be calculated from the date you completed your studies. E.g., if you were awarded 21 November 2024 your visa could be curtailed to 21 March 2025. You must abide by the date in the email from UKVI and submit any new application before your visa expires, e.g., Graduate Route.
You must immediately inform your employer of any change in your circumstances, and they may choose to stop you working as your visa will normally be cancelled by UKVI. You should obtain a new Certificate of Employability and provide this to any employer after checking it confirms the changes to your course. You can download a new Certificate of Employability from the My Uni Documents section of MyStudentRecord. You are able to email the certificate directly to an employer from an official university email address. If they wish to keep you working for a time and are unsure whether you still have the right to work, they should contact the Employer Checking Service.
