I cannot access the BMJ Best Practice app - what should I do?

In the summer of 2023, BMJ made changes to the app and all users are required to login again.  You will need a current NHS Athens account. To resume access, follow these instructions.  


If you cannot open the BMJ Best Practice app, follow the instructions below.

Open the app.

Under “Access through your institution” click “OpenAthens/Shibboleth”

Your institution is “NHS in England” or “University of Leicester NHS in England”  (not just University of Leicester).

Choose either.    Then when prompted enter your NHS Athens username and password.   Your University email address should work instead of your NHS Athens username.

You may need to wait for the actual app content to be downloaded.

The app does need to be version 3.24.0 or above, so if the above does not work, try updating the app from your app store.
