Does Archives and Special Collections offer work experience?

Answer

Archives and Special Collections does not offer regular work experience placements, but we are in the process of developing a volunteer programme. Current projects, for the 2022-23 academic year, include:

 - Century of Student Life project. This is designed to explore student life, activities and events over the past century. By getting involved, students can learn about the university archives and special collections, gain some experience working with archives, and develop transferable skills. For more information about this opportunity, please contact the Library Champions project by email. Further information about the Library Champions scheme is available on the website.

Sounds for the Future project, run by the East Midlands Oral History Archive and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This project includes opportunities for cataloguing oral history collections, summarising oral history interviews, and more. For further information see the call for volunteers webpage.
