What copyright clearance do I need to use an image from Special Collections Online or from an item in Special Collections?

Some of the material on Special Collections Online is released under a Creative Commons licence. If this is the case it will be clearly stated in the item description. This content can be reused for non-commercial purposes as long as the user credits any copyright holders and gives the source of the item (the Special Collections Online webpage address).

Please email us with requests to use any image not released under a Creative Commons licence, including details of the intended use and whether it is for commercial or non-commercial purposes. A member of the team will get in touch with you to discuss and can issue a copyright licence if required (and permitted). There may be a fee for the use or provision of images.
