If you wish to use an image from Special Collections Online or from an item in Special Collections you must ensure you have the appropriate copyright clearance.

Some of the material on Special Collections Online is released under a Creative Commons licence. If this is the case it will be clearly stated in the item description. This content can be reused for non-commercial purposes as long as the user credits any copyright holders and gives the image's source (the Special Collections Online webpage address) and reference number.

Information on obtaining copyright clearance for images not released under a Creative Commons licence is available at Accessing our collections, under 'making copies.'

Please email us with requests to use any image not released under a Creative Commons licence, including details of the intended use and whether it is for commercial or non-commercial purposes. A member of the team will get in touch with you to discuss further.
